Week 4 (7/10 - 7/14) This Camp is Now Sold Out! THANK YOU! (If you wish to be placed on our waiting list, please email nan@) Anime is a Japanese animation style that features colorful, stylistically drawn, action-oriented figures. Students will learn to adopt this vibrant style while giving their own style to it. • Learn brief anime history through interactive talks, and understand how the American animation pipeline differs from the Japanese pipeline. • Learn through daily interactive exercises in which we will break down how hair, bodies, and facial features are often stylized and analyze how that may be incorporated into their styles and aesthetic tastes. (will spend separate days focusing on drawing features, expressions, action poses, and finding ways to incorporate the anime style into your style.) • Watch examples of iconic anime styles with discussions on character design and motion Instructor: Aki Torii - Teaches foundation classes at DCAD. Instructing traditional and digital practices. In addition, she is a teaching artist at The Print Center, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts School and Museum in Philadelphia. - Artist, Education: University of the Arts BA Animation, 2020 Delaware College of Art & Design AA Animation, 2018 University of Delaware Associate of the Arts, 2016
