Slayer is an American heavy metal band that was formed in Huntington Park, California by vocalist and bassist Tom Araya and guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman in 1981. They are one of the "Big Four" of thrash metal along with Metallica, Anthrax, and Megadeth. The band's current lineup consists of Araya, King, drummer Paul Bostaph, and guitarist Gary Holt (both of whom are formerly members of the band Exodus); the latter replacing Hanneman after his death in 2013.
